Talitha McQueen is an Australian-born writer, photographer, and visual artist based in London. Her fiction explores the lives of overlooked historical women through a dark, upmarket gothic lens.
She has completed her debut historical gothic novel, Mrs Crowley, which reimagines the life of Aleister Crowley’s wife, Rose Edith Kelly, from her own perspective. She is currently working on a second historical gothic novel and a short story collection.
Talitha graduated with Distinction from her Master’s degree in Creative Writing, where her dissertation and auto-fiction novella examined how contemporary women writers use Gothic techniques to explore trauma, identity, and memory. In September 2026, she will commence a creative-critical PhD in English with Creative Writing at the University of York, where her doctoral research will focus on feminist archival recovery, transnational displacement, and the domestic Gothic.
Her work has been a finalist in the Page Turner Awards and longlisted for The London Library Emerging Writers Programme. In 2026, she was one of only eleven writers selected for the prestigious Granta Short Literary Fiction Workshop, tutored by Camilla Grudova.
